The Most Beautiful Words

Henry James said the most beautiful words in the English language were "summer afternoon".

Being British, and knowing that the reality of a summer afternoon are usually few and far between (that's why my least favourite word is "umbrella!"). When a summer afternoon does arrive, it really DOES feel like the most beautiful words in the English language.

What is your favourite word in the English language, and why?

My favourite English word is: “because”.
It must sound strange, mustn’t it?
My mother didn’t know how to speak English but she used to say that she loved listening to English people speaking, in particular the pronunciation of the word “because”. She was a wonderful person and, unfortunately, she passed away a long time ago. I think of her everyday, so I she is still alive. And, when I listen to someone saying “because” I smile and remind her.

That is a really sweet message Amp.
I thought your favourite word was "spooky" also.
There are so many wonderful words in the English language that it's really difficult to pick just one.

Thank you for your comments.
